What is Green Comet? Comet C/2022 E3 | Location, Angle, Date and Time

Comet C/2022 E3: On 1st February 2023 comet ZTF will be visible with the naked eye from Earth, this comet is returning after 50000 years. The last time it came near earth was the ice age. The comet C/2022 E3 is very rare according to NASA. Space science enthusiasts can observe the view from earth. It was discovered in march last year, let us tell you that the green comet ZTF is approaching earth on 1st and 2nd February. This comet will be the closest distance to earth making it viewable with the naked eye.

This comet is viewable from every state of India and across the world. As per NASA report the comet was near the sun and it has completed the orbit of the sun and is now going outer reaches of the solar system. As per report the green comet will pass by earth only 42 million kilometers away from earth surface. Comet ZTF is a rare comet which orbits the sun with a longer time period. Let’s know more about the Comet C/2022 E3 and green comet in the post.

What is Comet?

Comets are often referred to as dirty snowballs by astronomers around the world.  Comets are made of rock, ice and dust, sometimes with gas. These comets come from the outer edge of our solar system. In some rare cases comets may come from the outer solar system. Study finds that the comet’s inner core of a comet is surrounded by a thin and gassy atmosphere made of ice and dust.

Green Comet C/2022 E3

As a comet comes closer to the sun it melts and releases the stream of gas and dust from its surface that is blown by solar radiation that forms a tail that points away from the sun. Gravitational force within the solar system often makes comets move towards the inner solar system and when it comes near earth humans have the possibility to see that like the green Comet C/2022 E3 ZTF. Every year dozens of comets are discovered by observatories around the world but fewer comets like green Comet C/2022 E3 are rare which orbit the sun in 50,000 years.

Comet C/2022 E3 ZTF Tail Length

Green comet approaches earth on 1st February 2023, as the comet was orbiting the sun it was releasing dust particles and gas. The radiation of the sun creates a tail which can grow millions of miles in length. The comet has a green tail of about 1 to 10 millions miles in length.
